Senwes Spinners celebrate 10 years at the crease

10 year celebration
The celebration kicked off with cricket coaching at 10 farm schools (5 in Northwest and 5 in the Free State) and coaches training with Northwest Cricket. Thereafter a 4-day cricket tournament was held from 28 to 31 March 2016 in Potchefstroom with all ten teams being hosted at Potchefstroom Boys High and the games held at the fields of Boys High and Technical High Schools.

The two top teams were Humansvlakte and Phakela Primary Schools and although rain effectively ruled out any chance of a final on 14 May at Senwes Park, the two schools shared the winner's trophy with each school pocketing R3 750. The gala dinner afterwards was attended by Senwes’ management, Northwest Cricket board members and representatives of Cricket SA, headmasters, coaches and captains of the ten farm schools who took part in the tournament as well as cricket greats.

History
In March of 2006 Senwes teamed up with the Northwest Cricket Association to launch the Senwes Spinners Cricket Development Program. Since then the program has gone from strength to strength.

Francois Strydom, Group Chief Executive of Senwes said: “I think the fact that we are celebrating a decade of involvement with cricket development in the rural areas is proof that Senwes is 100% committed to the improvement of the lives of the communities in which we conduct business. Senwes is about far more than just agriculture.”
