It seems like February is indeed the month for this new captain at the helm of Hinterland. This seasoned businessman officially commenced duty on Monday, 1 February 2016. Two weeks later on Valentine’s Day, Thursday 14 February 2016, he celebrated his 29th wedding anniversary with his wife, Alet and a mere two days later, 16 February 2016, his 52nd birthday.
On a personal level Daan is a Pretoria-born leader and received much of his schooling in Phalaborwa, where he matriculated at Hoërskool Frans du Toit in 1981.
He then studied at North West University in Potchefstroom, where he obtained his Baccalaureus Pharmaciae degree in 1987. This is not his first time in the Northwestern city of Klerksdorp, as he previously worked in Klerksdorp at the Medi- Centre Pharmacy during his internship. He was also involved in the Health Smart group of pharmacies. Daan and Alet have two children, a daughter Relandí (25) and a son, Zurich (22).
His history speaks volumes as he was involved with Clicks for a decade, where he worked his way up to the position of divisional manager. He has been part of Massbuild for the past eight years, since 2008, where he held the position of area manager.
Daan comes highly recommended. In his own words, he has “a passion for life and success.” He also believes in staff as he firmly believes that “people are important and results are achieved through people.”
He adds that he is very fussy about issues relating to responsibility. “If I want a job done, I expect that it be done properly. And you can expect the same from me.” He wants to make a positive contribution in order to leave a legacy behind.”
One of his first duties will be to look at strategies and communicate with other role players at Hinterland. According to him 2016 will be particularly challenging for the agricultural sector, but he is definitely up for the challenge.
