The Ottosdal Draf en Trap has formed part of the annual programme of the Northwest and numerous athletes and cyclists since 1994. It celebrated its 25th birthday this year and more than 4 000 athletes competed this year – in excess of 2 800 athletes and 1 200 cyclists. According to Comrades legend, Louis Massyn from Goudveld Multi Sport in Welkom, who holds the record of 45 Comrades races, this is the place where the most athletes and cyclists come together on the platteland.
The impact of Draf en Trap on this small town is huge. Jaco Bamberger tells us that approximately 11 000 people stream to this area when the race is on at the end of January. Secretary and organiser who has been part of the success for the past 15 years, Willa Naudé, tells us that sponsors are essential and she thanks each and every one – without their contributions it would not be possible to present the Draf en Trap.
Senwes is proud to have been a part of this Ottosdal export product for 25 years. Watch the video clip on the 2018 Ottosdal Draf en Trap. And if you are not part of it yet, you are really missing out ...
